ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. -- Thomas M. Burke, of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away peacefully July 9, 2008.

He was born Nov. 23, 1946, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and graduated from Plattsburgh High School. He attended college in Canton, N.Y., and then served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Florida, after 33 years of service.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Mildred Burke; and then a brother, Michael M. Burke.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Burke; and three children, Shelly Wilt and husband Rodney of Florida, Tina Wasserman and her husband Jay of Texas, and son, John Burke and wife Stephanie of Florida; also five grandsons and two granddaughters; plus several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three brothers, John Burke of Indiana, Patrick Burke of New York, Daniel Burke of Massachusetts; and two sisters, Marie Corron of New York, and Lea Beech of Florida.
He was an avid golfer and a devoted sports fan.

Funeral services were held in Largo, Fla., July 15, 2008.
