Clifton was born June 17, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo. Clifton was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1951. He served in USAF Active Duty from 1952 to 1956. He served as a Reservist for 38 years at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, retiring in 1992.
Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Dallas Burkhead and Mabel. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carlene Burkhead, his two sons Cliff Burkhead (Robin) of Peculiar, Mo., and Curtis Burkhead (Vanessa) of Frisco, Texas, and by three granddaughters, Lauren and Natalie of Peculiar, and Haley of Wichita, Kan.
Clifton is also survived by his siblings, Kenneth Sr. (Dorothy-deceased) of North Kansas City, Mo., Carl (Joyce) of Lawrence, Kan., Eleanor (Pat) of Arvada, Colo., John (Cindy) of Athens, Ala., and Mary of Buckhannon, WV.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12700 S. Raytown Rd., Kansas City, MO 64149. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church, 10801 Ruskin Way, KCMO 64134.
