JOHN L. GRGURICH
John L. Grgurich was born October 10, 1920 to Anton and Loyza Grgurich in Tipperary, Ia. He passed away July 3, 2001 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines due to cancer at the age of 80.
John was united in marriage to Shirley Ann McDowell, February 17, 1949 in Chariton. To this union one daughter was born, Margo Ruth Grgurich Smith of Anchorage, Alaska.
John moved to Des Moines in 1949 and worked for Firestone, retiring in 1983 after 38 years of service.
He loved to fish and hunt pheasant and deer. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Loyza.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Margo; two brothers, Steve of Williamson and William of Gary, Ind.; two sisters, Rose Polich of Knoxville and Anne Shelton of Concord, Calif.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2001 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery. Bearers were Dale Callen, Fred Grgurich, Randy Grgurich, Seth Grgurich, Steve Grgurich and Fred McDowell.
