Tribute to Bessie Lorraine Wright Dayley, April 1969; recorded in the book, "Our Wright Line", compiled by Keith L Dayley, Vol. 1:

Much can be said about Bessie Dayley: Loving mother of five sons, devoted wife, dedicated church worker. Bessie began her life in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Albertis Delano and Celia Harris Wright. The Wrights were devout Baptists. Bessie won in her youth a Bible for 100% attendance in their local church meetings. In high school she was active in drama and music, participating in most of the events in Idaho Falls High School, from which she graduated. That summer she enrolled at the University of Idaho Southern Branch, Pocatello, and that fall taught school in a little town just out of Idaho Falls. The following summer she again went to school at Pocatello, and again she taught at another little country school out of Idaho Falls. while attending university in Pocatello she P. Lyle Dayley, who wooed and ultimately won her, and they were married by a Baptist Minister in her parents home in Idaho Falls. since religion played a very important part in her life, her parents were very concerned about this association with a Mormon. They cautioned her against the marriage, saying that if she married that Mormon she'd become a Mormon herself, but she assured them that would never happen. She was a solid Baptist and a solid Baptist she would remain. Following the marriage to Lyle they made their home in Pocatello, where he was an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad.

After the birth of her first two sons, she began to realize the importance of religious unity in the home. Since her husband would hear nothing of the Baptist faith which she embraced, she decided on her own to investigate Mormonism to see it the claims made were reasonable in her sight. After a lengthy investigation she gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 8, 1931. She and her husband, along with their two sons, were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1932. Following were the birth of three more sons. Four of the five sons served full-time missions (the fifth serving a part-time mission after he was married), and all five have been married in the temple.

Sample of her church callings: First Jr. Sunday School Coordinator conducting the first Jr. Sunday School in Pocatello; several years as Literature Leader on the Pocatello Stake Relief Society Board; Councilor in the Stake Relief Society for 15 years; Ward MIA Music Director; Stake Music Director of the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association (MIA) in West Pocatello Stake. served 37 years in MIA, many years in Sunday School, and also in Primary where she taught her sons in the Trail Builder program classes.

Counselor to her sons, companion to her husband, leader of youth, executive of women's organizations, inspiration of thousands through music. All of these have been the lot of Bessie Lorraine Wright Dayley.
