HARRISBURG - Robert W. "Bob" Absher, 64, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at his residence.
He was born March 4, 1943, in Harrisburg, to Royal Absher and Marcella (Tanner) Absher. He married Linda Kay Powell on March 3, 1964.
He was an Air Force veteran. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of American Legion Post 167 in Harrisburg and past member of Harrisburg Elks and Kiwanis.
Bob loved sports, especially basketball. He received a basketball scholarship. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Funeral services and burial will be private at a later date.
Memorials should be directed to Harrisburg Athletics Department or Shawnee Hills Country Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay Absher of Harrisburg; mother, Marcella Absher of Carrier Mills; son, Bryan Absher and wife, Myra, of Bedford, Ind.; daughter, Leslee Duncan of Marion; daughter-in-law, Michelle Absher of Marion; two brothers, Rex Absher and wife, Cosetta, of South Pointe, Ohio and Don Absher of Carrier Mills; sister-in-law, Kathie Powell of Stonefort; and five grandchildren, Conner Absher, Austin Absher, Jay Duncan, Zachary Absher and Cassidy Absher.
He was preceded in death by his father, Royal Absher; son, Brad Absher; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Juanita and Pete Powell.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by many.
