Georgene "Gigi"Hughes Davis, 69, died on May 22, 2012, after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Blue Mountain, Ark., on Feb. 28, 1943, to George and Pauline Hughes. Gigi graduated from Dimmit High School in Dimmitt, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University. Gigi worked for many years with the Federal Land Bank Association and retired from there in 1993. After retirement, she pursued a career in real estate in the Corpus Christi area with Lone Star Real Estate, where she was part of the big family. She was loved and respected by many in the real estate industry. Gigi had a love and talent for making beautiful, unique jewelry and for sewing anything from a blouse to ornate draperies with an eye for intricate detail. Gigi will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle laugh, and love for shopping! Gigi's love of her life was her devoted husband, William Bill A. Davis. They married in 1991 and had been best friends ever since. She also adored her faithful dogs, Muffin and Caleigh. Gigi was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pauline Hughes; her sister, Brenda Freeman; and stepson, Wade Davis. She is survived by her husband, William Bill A. Davis; brother, Carroll Hughes (Mary); stepson, William Trey A. Davis III (Amy); stepdaughter, Katrina Gentry (Jim); and stepsons, John Latham and Taylor Latham. She is also survived by many loving nieces and cousins.
