Marian spent most of her life in the Edison Park neighborhood. Her introduction to Norwood Park Home (NPH) came about in the 1950s through her position as manager of the Norwood Corset Shop. The shop was situated across the tracks from NPH on Northwest Highway, where Pullman Bank is located today. Marian often personally assisted the Home's nurses who would shop for some of the residents, as well as the residents themselves, to find the right garment to meet their needs. For more than 40 years, Marian was a member of the NPH Women's Service League, chairing many of their special events. She was a member of the Nor-Wood Life Care (formerly Norwegian Old People's Home Society) and for 23 years, served as a member and officer of the board of directors. Volunteer extraordinaire, Marian dedicated numerous hours weekly to the Home and Service League projects. She worked hard for the residents. Marian was the wife of the late LeRoy A. Betz; mother of LeRoy (Elaine) Betz; and grandmother of Albert G. Betz, Thaddeus A. Betz and Eugene C. Betz.
