Olgie was a proud and dignified man of mixed Native American, African-American, and European-American descent. After serving briefly but honorably in the Army, Olgie met Quincy Hedgepeth (sp?) and married her. They had one son, Carmen St. Clair Louis. They were honest hard working people but of extremely modest means. They lived in the "blue-collar" neighborhoods of North Philadelphia. Long after his death, Olgie's love letters to his future wife Quincy were discovered and according to his son Carmen "they were lovely, very poetic, and sincere. I was deeply moved by them." Father and son now rest side by side.
