James D. Carr, nearly 40 years a resident of this city died at the home of his son Byron at 5:20 AM at the age of 86. He lived in Orange County, New York. When he was 6 years old he moved with his parents to Pennsylvania and lived there 11 years. He was one of a family of 9 children, 8 sons and 1 daughter -- the youngest of the family, the mother of Charles M. Boss of this city. Mr. Carr was the 7th son, and the last survivor. In 1847 they removed to Columbia county Wisconsin, and 8 years later they came to Rice County, where they lived until 1865, when they removed to Sauk Centre.
James' father was a veteran of the War of 1812, and two of his sons were soldiers in the War of the Rebellion.
