Bluford Jackson, 88, of Beacon and formerly a long time resident of Pawling, died November 29, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. He had worked as the Director of Security at Downstate Medical Center. Mr. Jackson served as Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Pawling and Building Inspector for the Town of Pawling. He was an Exempt Member of the Pawling Fire Department and member of the Dutchess County Exempt Firemen's Association; past President of Pawling Board of Education; and a member of Pawling High School Alumni Association. Mr. Jackson served in the US Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Hasler-Kamp American Legion; past Commander and past County Commander. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stormville, NY and was a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mt. Zion. Born Aug. 4, 1917 in Pawling, he was the son of Bluford and Emma Daniels Jackson. He was a graduate of Pawling High School. He was married to Shirley Grayson, who predeceased him on Feb. 23, 2000. Survivors include his three sons, Ronald and wife, Margaret of Cleveland, OH; Lawrence and wife, Christine of Geneseo, NY; and Glenn and wife, Lowana of LaGrangeville, NY; daughter, Paula Williams of Poughkeepsie, NY; cousin, Mary Alyce Dubard of Buffalo, NY; stepbrother, William Randolph of Pawling, NY; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, David, sister, Josephine, step-brother, Rev. Robert Randolph and a great grandson. Burial will be in Pawling HaslerKamp Post American Legion Cemetery, Pawling.
