N. Lorene Altis, 96, passed away May 17, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 pm, Monday, May 21st at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2pm. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove, MO. The family suggests memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice, 13316 W. 98th St., Lenexa, KS 66215. Lorene was born March 7, 1916 in Mountain Grove, MO to James and Lillie Lathrom. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School and received her teaching certificate. Lorene moved to Kansas City and worked for Sam L. Casey Insurance Co. and then taught preschool at the Nall Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jasper K. Altis, and her sister, Ella May Hopkins. Survivors include her son, Jim Altis and wife Anita; granddaughters, Katherine Altis, Patricia Altis, and Amy Klassen; great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
