Sibling:
Barnie June Bumstead Delanda (1944-).

Member of Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) at Lamar High School.

From the Houston, Harris, Texas newspaper:
BUMSTEAD RITES ARE WEDNESDAY: Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m. Wednesday for Jody Anthony Bumstead, an 18 year old student who drowned Sunday afternoon at Huntsville State Park. He lived at 506 Plymouth. Walker County officials said that Bumstead was swimming with several other friends at the lake and that about 1:30 p.m. he and David Seymour, also of Houston, went out on a paddle boat. Seymour was wearing a bathing suit and jumped off the boat to swim to shore, the officers said, and Bumstead, who was fully clothed, followed him. He jumped into about 14 feet of water and never surfaced. His body was recovered about an hour and a half later. A justice of the peace ruled death by accidental drowning. Bumstead attended Lamar High School, where he was a member of the ROTC. Funeral services will be at the Heights Funeral Home. Interment will be at Forest Park West Cemetery.
