Bobby was born in the heart of the Great Depression to Roberts Owen and Lucile Bryan. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School and Howard Payne University, he went on to become a Southern Baptist Minister, pastoring Churches in Colorado, South Dakota and several churches in Texas, where he retired from a full-time pastorate in 1996, while serving at Cooper Creek Baptist Church in Denton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Krugerville. He is preceded into Glory by his wife of fifty years, Betty Wilson Bryan.
In 2006, Bobby remarried to Joyce Watson, widow of his cousin Rev Gerry Watson. until his death.
