TUPPER LAKE - Charles (Chuck) Henry LaMell, 67, of Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake following a lengthy stay. Born Dec. 18, 1928 in Hartford, Conn. he was the son of Henry and Anastasia (Patnode) LaMell. Mr. LaMell served in the U.S. Army SignalCorps during the Korean Conflict beginning in 1951. On Jan 16, 1954 he was married to the former Goldie Kennedy in Morrisville, Vt, at the Holy Cross Church by the Rev. Dufault. Upon his release from the military, the LaMell's moved to Tupper Lake where Mr. LaMell worked on the railroad to the Sabattis Mountain Camp. He then went to work at the Sunmount VA Hospital in 1955, staying on when the facility changed over to the state develomental center, working as an aide. He took college courses which allowed for promotion to a unit supervisory position. He retired from Sunmount in 1986 and resided at Mill Street since 1962. Mr. LaMell was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, loved the woods and loved to travel. Survivors include his wife, one son, Shane F. LaMell of Tupper Lake; two daughters, Mrs David (Connie) Premo of St. Mary's, Ga and Jennifer Cassell of Tupper Lake, one sister, Mrs. Anthony (Lucille) Hodges of Morrisonville, Vt; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today at the Richer Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 am Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Donald Manfred officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Tupper Lake volunteer Rescue Squad in care of the Richer Funeral Home.
