Ben J. Weiler, of Athens, died Dec 31, 2004 in the Palliative Care unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born Apr 16, 1905 in the town of Bern, son of the late Victor and Helena (Gilles)Weiler. On Sep 22, 1928 he married Hilda Plisch at Salem Lutheran Church, Hamburg. She preceded him in death Jan 4, 1981. In 1984 he married Louise Metz in Stetsonville. She preceded him in death Feb 2001.
Ben had been employed at Schertz Fox Farm and after his marriage to Hilda, they moved to Wausau to raise their family. He delivered gas and oil for Sinclair, then was employed with the L.H. Hall dealership and retired from Bates Body, Schofield. After retirement, the Weilers returned to live in their hometown of Athens.
Ben was the type of person who could undertake any type of project and do it well. He was self taught in many areas and consequently became a Jack-of-all-trades and master of many.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Lee) Weiler, Mosinee and Jack (Virgie) Weiler, Summerfield, FL, six grandchildren, Scott, Larry, Lyn, Cindy, Keith and Brian, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a sister, Sister Mary Victor, LaCrosse and a brother, Matthew (Joy) Weiler, Athens.
Besides his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
