Entered U.S. Air Force Officers Training School in 1980.

He was recognized in Who's Who in American High Schools and in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges.

Taught in Goldsboro City Schools prior to entering the U.S. Air Force Officers Training School in 1980.

During his years of service he was stationed at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV; UPT at Kelly AFB, TX; Dugway Proving Grounds, Tooele County, UT; Keesler AFB in Biloxi,MS; Columbus AFB, MS; and Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM.

Received the following awards:
Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Achievement Medal; Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Basic Missile Badge.

Performed volunteer service for New River Valley Hospice in Christiansburg, VA.
