"Dick Bob" is the son of Richard Rodgers Mason, (1950 - 2013) and Mary Kay Cannon Mason, (1953 - 1997). He was born in Thomasville, GA, 13 Jan 1986 and died in a car crash with his mother, 03 Apr 1997. Dick Bob's grandfather, James S. Mason, (1918 - 2005), created a scholarship fund at the Jerger Elementary School, in Dick Bob's name. Every year a graduating fifth grader, who most exemplifies the outstanding characteristics of Dick Bob, is honored with the "Dick Bob Mason Award" and receives a plaque, given to him or her by Dick Bob's dad, Richard R. Mason, to take home. His or her name is added to the roster on the large plaque Jimmy made when he created the fund. It hangs in the fifth grade hall in memory of the scholastic excellence of this young man.
