Fred A.Merritt was born in Homer,Nebraska.
He was first married to Alberta Fern Merritt, they had two sons together,Terry and Dale Merritt.

After Alberta passed away he Traveled to Mexico in 1966,where he met and married again.
He decided Mexico was his new home until he died.

He helped a lot of people who was in need.
I remember that close to Christmas time him and my mom would prepare boxes with caned food, rice, beans, flour, sugar, etc,and gave them to people who really needed them.
He also helped a young man with his studies and living expenses until he graduated and found a good job. This person was very sad to hear my dad passed away,he said that no one cared for him like my dad and that he really changed his life for the best.

My dad had a bad back, due to an accident he had when he was in World War II,He had to use a cane to walk, and he often told me that he was sorry for not being able to play with me the way other dads did with their children.I never responded anything when he said it,now I can tell him that I still had the best dad ever.
He helped me a lot with my homework, and because of him I always had A+ on English :)

He died the way he said he wanted to die,at home, not in a hospital, surrounded by his family.I was 13 years old when he passed away.It was very hard for me to see my dad die.

He was a veteran of World War II.
He is buried in Guadalajara,Mexico at Recinto Funeral Colonias in a section where veterans are buried,a few friends, that he met at the American Legion in Mexico, are buried there too.

He was a great loving, caring man and he is greatly missed.

Cause of death: Heart complications

I want to thank Crystal Lee for sponsoring my father's memorial.
