Vera Mae Harrison

Vera Mae Harrison LUBBOCK-Vera Mae Harrison went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2012, when she succumbed to congestive heart failure at the age of 89. Vera Mae was born May 1, 1923, to Easter and Sam Hastey in Rochester, Texas. She married C.N. Harrison on Aug. 9, 1941, in Haskell, Texas, where they began a 69-year marriage. She was preceded in death by both parents, Easter and Sam Hastey; her husband, C.N.; one sister, Jane Wilkinson; and one grandson, Steven Tingle.

She is survived by one sister, June Blanchard; one brother, Joe Wayne Hastey; three children, Brenda Boydston , Perry Harrison and Jeanette Pettigrew; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Her Christian faith made her the glue that held us all together. She was a wonderful mother and we all adored her. She will be dearly missed. Mae worked as a PBX operator for many years in the Lubbock area. She was an active member of the PBX Club of Lubbock, where she held numerous positions until her retirement from Southwestern Public Service in the 1970s. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church here in Lubbock.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m. in Sanders Memorial Chapel, located on Main Street in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held later the same day in Gillespie Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. This cemetery is located on Hwy 222 outside Munday, Texas.
