Funeral services for H. Oscar Sheffield, 72, who died at Newton Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning, May 27, will be held at the chapel of Green funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29.

Rev. J.C. Collins, Baptist minister, will officiate.

Pallbearers are: Cage Terry, Milton Mullinax, J.P. Harwell, Nig Thweatt, J.W. Weems, Fonsey Bryant, William Phipps and Luther Todd.

Interment will be in Little River cemetery.

Hiram Oscar Sheffield was born in Milam County in Belmena community on June 23, 1881, the son of Jasper and Sletha McGee Sheffield. He spent all his life in Milam County. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and was a member of the Woodmen of the World for 53 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Sheffield of Star Route, Cameron; one son, Cozine Sheffield of Cameron; one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Hruske of Corpus Christi; four brothers, Hubert, Henry and Matthew Shuffield of Cameron and Walter Shuffield of Austin; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
