The sexton of the cemetery looked into their records for me to learn why Ervan's name was not in the typed list of interments. It turns out that according to their records, his ashes are included in Bessie's coffin. They share the grave. -- Sue Ann Harfst

Bessie Powell
Funeral services for Bessie L. Powell, 75, of Caldwell, who died Thursday, June 7, 1990, at home of natural causes, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Free Methodist Church, Caldwell, with the Rev. Allen Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Powell was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Cottonwood, Mo., a daughter of Locke and Myrtle May Strohmyer Bean. She moved to Idaho with her family in the early 1920's. Bessie lived in Rupert with her family where she married Ervan Ellsworth Powell on Feb. 14, 1934. They moved to Caldwell where they farmed. Mr. Powell died Aug. 21, 1986, at Caldwell.
She is survived by: six sons, Don, Alvin, Clyde, Floyd,Gene,Howard three sisters, Dorothy Lish of Rupert, Opal Houx of Molbridge, S.D., Henny Armis of Redland, Calif.,; two brothers, Jim Bean of Rupert and Byron Bean of Hagerman; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as six living half-brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a half-brother, Paul, and a grand-daughter, Shelly Lynn.
