When I examined Salem Cemetery records in recent years, the death date given for John Leonidas Horne was 21 May 1880. Therefore in my attempt to mark all unmarked graves in the cemetery, I used this date.; however, this date is obviously incorrect as further research revealed John L. Horne and wife Adnie (Adney) living with children in the 1900 Federal Census. He is not enumerated in the census of 1910, so, it would seem a reasonable assumption that he died between 1900 and 1910. I regret that the death date on his grave marker is incorrect. I found a family tree on Ancestry.com that indicates that John Leonidas Horne died 21 May 1905 (note that the day and month are consistent) and he was the son of Williamson Turner Horne (1815 - 1876) and Mary Elizabeth Cross (1822 - 1881).
