May Willie Higgenbotham was the youngest child of Mary Irvin (Cosby)Higgenbotham and Otha David Higgenbotham. She lived only 12 days. An old bank register was found in 2006 and the last page lists all of Mary Leaks' children(up to that point in time, she had another daughter with her third husband) along with their birth dates, in Mary's handwriting. The last child listed has her birth and death date along with a small paragraph that reads: "May Willie Higgenbotham born March 7, 1924 May Willie died March 19, 1924 Carried away from me the 19 a stain I can never forget I had the care brought in this world not even a kind word to help me God saw fit to move her from me from this curse world where she could be at rest and no hard words can go there. Mother"
Her cause of death was bronchial pneumonia
May was buried in front of a tree that has since grown over her grave and marker. It continues to grow over many of the graves and markers in Baby Garden 12 at New Crown Cemetery.
