Merlin Christiansen

CHUBBUCK - Merlin B. Christiansen, 85, of Chubbuck, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home.

He was born on October 31, 1926, in Pocatello, Idaho. After graduating from Pocatello High School he served in the U.S. Navy South Pacific Theater during World War II and was honorably discharged.

He married Rachel Galloway in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 15, 1949, in Blackfoot, Idaho. They were sealed together for time and eternity on April 14, 1950, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Merlin graduated from Vo-Tech at Idaho State College in 1949. He was employed by Kraft Foods for 40 years.

Merlin was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served several missions during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife; two sons; four daughters; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; one sister; and three brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the doctor and nurses at Creekside-Encompass, and especially to Daniel Still.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the 41st Ward LDS Chapel located at 1700 Kinghorn in Pocatello. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Military honors will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
