Deceased Name: Edward F. Johnson
Edward F. Johnson, 84, of Johnstown passed away April 21, 2012 at Life Care Center of Longmont after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born to Edward P. M. and Marjorie (Mason) Johnson on July 21, 1927 in Detroit, MI, Edward moved to Los Angeles, CA at an early age.

He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WWII, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 13, 1945. He then attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Edward enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept 1, 1950, remained on active duty through June 8, 1952, and then served with the U.S. Army Reserves until March of 1964. He attained the rank of Captain.

Edward married Joan Smith (now deceased) in 1950. They divorced in 1972. He married Jean Arnold Crowder, whom he met at Golden West Retirement Community in Boulder, CO, in 2004. The couple moved to Johnstown in 2006.

Edward was an Engineer for Pacific Bell Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring in 1984.

Of Presbyterian faith, Edward attended weekly bible study sessions. A man of many interests, with a particular devotion to antique cars, he was a Life Member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America, a Life Member, Ambassador and President from 1999 to 2003 of the Horseless Carriage Foundation Inc. and current member of the Columbine Horseless Carriage Club of Northeast Colorado. He was also interested in investigating his family history and created many memory books for family members. He was always a gentleman; loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, and kind to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by great-grandchild Aleana Johnson.

Edward is survived by his wife Jean, of Johnstown, CO; a son, Scott Johnson (wife Bonnie) of Beaumont, CA; a daughter, Karen Daly (husband Malcolm) of Boulder, CO; a half-brother, Kenneth Johnson (wife Cynthia) of Mount Kisco, NY; a half-sister, Patricia Kwartler (husband Anatol) of Silver Lake, Ohio. He also leaves four grandchildren; Erica Findley (husband Kevin), Howell Johnson (wife Christy), Mason Daly and Kitt Daly; step-grandchildren; Stephanie D'Angelo, Julia D'Angelo and Trevor James, and four great-grandchildren; Destiny, Ashton, Amirah and Jinia Johnson.
