Robert W. Woerpel, age 87, died on Friday, July 29, 1994 at a Sun Prairie nursing home following a brief illness. He was born on April 23, 1907 in the town of Medina and was the son of Henry and Lillian (Krause) Woerpel. He married Catherine Hamshire. He operated the Mobil Station in Sun Prairie for many years. He was also very active in bowling, golfing and dart ball. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clifford, of Madison; five grandchildren, Barbara (Tim) Sullivan of Sun Prairie, Debbie (Joe) Larson of Sun Prairie, Michael Woerpel of Fox Lake, Scott (Amy) Woerpel of Madison, and Jeff Woerpel of Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Andrew; two sisters, Kate Radke of Waterloo and Marie (Bob) Gingles of Arkansas; a brother, Arthur (Pauline) Woerpel of Sun Prairie; two sisters-in-law, Ella Fullert of Columbus and Estelle Hamshire, of Waterloo; two brothers-in-law, Ray Reisdorf of Sun Prairie and Walter (Catherine) Hamshire of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; two brothers, his twin Raymond and Herbert; and a sister, Dorothy Reisdorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 1994 at the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North St., with Pastor Ross Oestriech officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Marshall. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 1994 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. WSJ 7/31/1994
