Katherine Elizabeth Williams Shepard, 77, of Lynchburg, passed away March 7, 2009, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Her husband of 61 years, Ralph Shepard, survives her.
Born Aug. 8, 1931, in Wilkes County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Smith and Katie Staley Williams. She was a member of Leesville Road Baptist Church. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and always put her family first. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Three brothers, Elmer, Monroe and Lloyd Williams, also preceded her in death.
Survivors also include three children, a sister, a brother, Junior Williams of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; and one special great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Scott Dean. Interment will take place in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at the funeral home.
