EX-COUNTY SUPERVISOR MUNSON E. WRIGHT DIED IN IDAHO

"A telegram received here Monday stated that Ex-County Supervisor M. E. Wright had died at the home of his son, A. D. Wright, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His sons, Irving and Ernest, had started Saturday morning to be with him during his sickness and consequently were gone when the message came. This morning the three sons arrived in Schaller with the remains. The burial will take place east of town, in the Chase Cemetery, on Thursday. Mr. Wright was for a number of years a prominent businessman of Schaller, and served as county supervisor for two terms."

From THE SCHALLER HERALD, same week as above:

"E.V. and Irving Wright left Saturday morning for Idaho Falls to see their father, having received word that he was failing. Sunday a telegram came telling of his death. A dispatch found them at Granger, Wyoming, where they awaited the arrival of their brother with the body and came back with him, arriving here Wednesday morning."

MUNSON E. WRIGHT DIES

"Munson E. Wright, who died at the home of his son in Idaho Falls, Idaho, February 2, 1902 [this date was corrected by the newspaper the following week; it was actually 26 January, 1902], of heart failure, was 56 years, 3 months and 2 days of age, was well known to the people of
Sac County, and highly respected as a citizen, neighbor and friend.

"He was born in Franklin County, New York, October 30, 1945. He was educated in the Lawrenceville Academy, in St. Lawrence County New York, afterward teaching in the same county. In 1866 he came to Clayton County, Iowa, and taught school a short time, afterwards returning to New York where he spent one year on a farm. In 1868 he again returned to Iowa locating in Madison County, where he resided until 1876, when he purchased a farm in Eden township, being among the first to buy land in the township, and continued to reside there until the fall of 1893.

"On June 1867, at Potsdam, New York, Mr. Wright was united in marriage to Mrs. L. E. [Morgan] Moore, a native of Sutton, Canada, and a teacher before marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Wright were the parents of six children, three of whom are still living: A. D., of Idaho Falls, Ernest V. and Irving E. of this place. Mrs. Wright, well and favorably known to many of the older residents, passed away November 15, 1892.

"In the fall of 1892 Mr. Wright was elected a member of the board of supervisors and filled that office very acceptably for a period of six years. The following year, December 1893, he became interested in business enterprises in Schaller and removed to town. April 28, 1894 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Alice Cook, who survives him. During his residence in Schaller Mr. Wright was an active businessman for a time being president of the Schaller Savings Bank, and he also served as the president of the school board for one term. About two years ago he met with slight business reverses and his failing health induced him to try the climate of Idaho, but to no avail. During his last sickness he suffered much but endured it all with great fortitude. The remains were brought to Schaller and the interment was in the Chase Cemetery east of town. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Palmer at the Presbyterian Church, and out of respect for his memory many of the business places closed during the hour of the service."
