Alvin D. Frantz, 79, of 725 Sunset Drive, Plymouth, passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 12, 1996, at Valley View Medical Center in Plymouth, as a result of a Moped accident in Plymouth on Aug. 1, 1996.
He was born on Aug 12, 1917 in Plymouth, a son of the late Alvin D. Frantz Sr. and Sophia Naas Frantz.
He attended Plymouth area grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1935.
On Dec. 17, 1938, he married Hilda Borkenhagen at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The couple has resided in Plymouth since their marriage.
He worked at the H.W. Motor Sales in Plymouth and at Plymouth Engineering, and for the last 34 years at the H.G. Weber Company in Kiel, before retiring in 1979.
He was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He belonged to the International Machinists of America and also was a member of the Aid Association of Retired People.
He enjoyed his family and riding his Moped.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda, Plymouth; one son, Alvin D. (Danny) Frantz, Idaho; one daughter Nancy Lee (Mark) Meilahn, Greeley, Colo.; three grandchildren, Dani Arlene (Joel) Rasmussen, of California; Melisa (Don) Moore, Denver, Colo.; and Paige Marie Meilahn, Greeley, Colo.; two step-grandchildren, Cindy (Jodi) Liljenquist, of Idaho; James (Imelda) Frantz, of Idaho; two great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and two step-brothers.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The Rev. Thomas Burton, pastor of the church, will officiate. cremation has taken place and inurement will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH, from 4 p.m., on Thursday, until the time of services.
A memorial fund is being established, in his name, for the St. John Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
The Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth is serving the family.
