Anne Louise Eckerman Pederson entered this world at the home of her parents, John and Katherine Steiner Eckerman, on July 25, 1912 and departed to enter her new life on January 10, 2007 at the age of 94 and a half. As she advanced in years, we were all reminded about the number of years plus each additional month. She kidded that she was practicing for when she turned one hundred as that would be like starting over and each month was important.

Anne farmed with Ralph in the Pleasant Valley area north and east of Winner for many years prior to moving to town in 1956. She was a life-long seamstress, who continued her passion of sewing, knitting, needle-point and crochet to the very end of her life. In fact, she was able to do finer detailed work than any other person we knew.

Annes passions were reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. It really didnt make a difference what card game was being played- to her a card game was an opportunity to spend time socializing and enjoying her friends. She spent many enjoyable hours at the Senior Center playing cards with her many friends. She has resided in her home on Jefferson Street from the late 1950s to the time she entered the Winner Hospital on December 22, 2006.

Anne was a life long active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and thoroughly enjoyed the social activities held each year. Anne touched the lives of everyone she knew; she will be missed and loved forever.

Anne is survived by her children: Loren (Tera) Pederson of Winner, SD; Joyce (Butch) Best of Witten, SD and Carolee (Larry) Truhe of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by her three sisters: Laura Haukaas of GA, Betty Deffley of OR and Mary Lindley of CA. She was loved and admired by six grandchildren: Donnette (Todd) Best Hanson, David (Jackie) Truhe, Troy (Naomi) Best, Debra (Joe) Truhe Cassara, Mark (Corrine) Truhe and Zachary Pederson. She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren. Grandma was always available and willing to play cards with them but their biggest complaint was that they never were able to win any of the games.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; her husband of 52 years, Ralph Pederson; her infant son, Dale Pederson, and a granddaughter.
