He was the son of Bertha Aarons of Springfield, Mass. He was married to Helen Herbert Aarons of Altoona, PA.Sergeant Jacques Aarons enlisted in the Army on Jan. 1, 1942. Attached to the anti-aircraft coast defenses at Newport, R.I., and then was sent to Camp Edwards, Mass. In December 1943, transferred to Camp Davis, N.C. and was assigned to a searchlight battalion. At age 26, while in charge of stringing a line of wire in Camp Davis, N.C., a corporal in his squad was caught by a fallen live wire. After hearing his cries for help, Aarons try to assist the corporal and was electrocuted. A first aid team tried to revive him for five hours.
