Leota's life story began in Lenora, Kansas with chapters of her life in Oklahoma, Texas, Burbank California, Madera in 1945 and lastly, Fresno in 2008.
Leota's life as many of her generation was based on values of family, hard work and thriftiness. Leota married Martin Jester in 1929 and they enjoyed 64 years together until his passing in 1993.
Martin was an employee of the City of Madera and Leota was a homemaker who did house cleaning and ironing for several Madera Families. They lived their entire life in the same home on West 5th Street where they were well liked in the close knit neighborhood.
Leota was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 1993 and by a daughter Barbara Moore in 1998.
Living independently and very self-sufficient into her 90's, Leota moved to Fresno in 2008 to live with her daughter Patsy Rigby and her husband Richard.
In addition to Patsy and Richard, Leota is survived by eight grandchildren, Trevamay Gebhart & her husband Greg, Tracy Chacon and her husband Robert, Joetta Ruggles, Martene Leftwich & her husband Mike, Peter Rigby and his wife Janna, Paul Rigby, Marti Hubbard and her husband Chris, and Diane Howard and her husband Hob, twenty five great grandchildren and nineteen great great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Leota was held on a Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 AM in Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
