Richard Longmire was a medic with the 194th Tank Battalion. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. On April 9, 1942, he became a Prisoner of War and took part in the Bataan Death March. He was held as a POW in the Philippines and later Mukden, Manchuria. He was liberated by the Russian Army on August 19, 1945.
