ODESSA Amber Danielle Goolsby, 17, of Odessa died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Odessa. She was born to Mike and Beth Goolsby November 5, 1985, in Odessa.
She was a junior at Permian High School. Amber was in the Whos Who Among American High School Students. She loved dancing, music, and her family and friends. She also loved her family at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Odessa with Rev. Jimmy Law officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kenneth Guinn, and uncle, Danny Goolsby.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Beth Goolsby; her brother, Chris Goolsby of Odessa; sister, Heather Goolsby and husband, Wil Bassham, of Dallas, Texas; grandmother, Anita Guinn of Odessa; and grandparents, Lee and Jean Goolsby of Roby, Texas; aunts and uncles, Susan and Michael Branum of Odessa, Mike and Eva Guinn of Midland,
Becky and Randy Young of Midland, Rodney Guinn of Austin, Texas, and Leeroy Goolsby of Rifle, Colo.; cousins, Krystal and Josh Quinn, Scott, Ashley and Tyler Young, Ryan Durbin, Michael Branum Jr., Dana Goolsby and November Flores; great-aunts and great-uncles, Bernard and Natasha Dawdy of OFalIon, Mo., and Hubert Lawson of Missouri City, Texas, Leion and Beverly Guinn of Sea Breeze, Fla.; and great-great-aunts, Edna Bushnell and Opal Crabtree of Ill.
Amber had many wonderful friends who loved her very much.
Today the Angels in Heaven are singing Alleluia, praising the Lord, a child has come home, indeed.

On Wednesday, May 21, Kasey Travis, a teenager from Odessa, Texas, was jailed and charged with manslaughter in the death of her classmate Amber Goolsby. According to the official report, alcohol was a factor in the April 10th accident. Seventeen-year-old Amber Goolsby died at the scene after the car in which she was riding failed to stop at a stop sign, went airborne, and struck a tree.
