Lena was born to Johann "John" G Silzle and Augusta Lohman Silzle. Her father and both of her mother's parents were born in Germany.

She married Charles John Gebauer in 1890 at Sonoma County, California. The two of them remained married until Charles death in 1908.

Lena married again around 1910 to George Edwin Glover. The two of them remained married until sometime between 1925 and 1930. They divorced and George married Clara C Fling in 1930.

Lena married for the last time around 1942 to Harry Robert Steele in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California. The two of them remained married until Harry's death in 1951. Lena never remarried again.
