DALE PICKERING

Dale Pickering, 70, passed away on April 3, 2012 at NorthCare Hospice. Marvin "Dale" Pickering, Jr. was born on May 23, 1941 at Mercy Hospital in Parsons, Kansas to Marvin Dale and Mary Ellen Pickering. He grew up on their family farm, Pickering Farms and Livestock at Bartlett, KS. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1964 with a degree in Grain Science. For the first nine years of his career, Dale managed two major grain mills: Krause Milling Co. in Milwaukee, WI and ConAgra Foods in Kansas City, MO. He and his wife, Rita, then founded and operated for 35 years Agri-Tech Personnel, Inc., a world-wide search and placement firm. Dale was devoted to his God, his wife, his family, his friends, and his church. His greatest thrill in life was seeing someone cross the line of faith and accept Jesus as savior. He was a Deacon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, MO, where he served in several other ministries, including the Seeker Group Team, which was his passion. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin Janel Pickering, his parents, Marvin and Mary Pickering, his maternal grandparents, Daniel "Bailey" and Hallie Russell, and his paternal grandparents Wayne and Leah Pickering. Dale is survived by Rita, his wife of 51 years, his daughter, Pamela and son-in- law Paul Beitling, grandchildren Brianna and Tyler Beitling of Kansas City, MO; his daughter, Michelle and son-in-law Donald Larson, grandchildren Gracey, Amy, Emily, and Zachary Larson of Johnson City, TN; his sister, Linda Joann McAhren of Grove, OK; his brother, Russell Wayne Pickering, of Wichita, KS; and a host of cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Visitation will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, MO beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7 with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at DW Newcomer's White Chapel.
