He was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving as a surgical technician in World War II in the European Theater. Walter was a long-time member of Salem Community Church, and later attended Grace Fellowship Church. He had served on the Kingston Union School Board, the Board of Trustees of Adena Regional Medical Center, the Ross County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Ross County Farm Bureau, and the Ross County Farmers Club.
Walter enjoyed the simple things in life: antique vehicles, listening to old-time country and gospel music, attending church, reminiscing, and spending time with his family and friends. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren always brought a bright smile to his face.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 in the Grace Fellowship Church, with Rev. Brent Rolsten officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1.
“I am about run down…guess I will have to quit for this time. Don’t work too hard and take care of yourself and family.”
Love, Walter
