She had also graduated from Decker High School. Gladys had worked at Hill's Department Store, Simon Jewelers and Subway. She was an active member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Women's Mission Group. She also was very active with RSVP and the Generations program. For many years she lived in Titusville, Fla., and moved to Vincennes in 1980. Gladys was known for her seamstress talents, great cooking and being an outgoing, loving person.She loved the Lord with all of her heart,everyone that knew Mrs.Gladys will miss her.
Surviving is a brother, Marion Neal of Loogootee; a sister, Betty Marie Hedges of St. Charles, Mo.; two grandchildren in Florida; two grandchildren in St. Charles, Mo.; and one grandchild in Tulsa, Okla.; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Rumer, who she married on Dec. 13, 1941, and he passed away in 1980; two sons, Woodrow Rumer Jr., and James H. Williams; step-sons James and Jerry Rumer; two brothers, Ed and Alfred Neal; and a sister, Dorothy Mae Dreiman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 3904 S. Lower Hart Street Road, with the Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gardner Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church or BridgePointe Health Campus.
