Fred came to BC with his parents when he was quite young. His mothers family had moved the Vancouver area in the early 1900s from Ontario, and had livery stables, and his Uncle William Lamont Tait (maternal grandmothers brother) was a Real Estate Developer, and Lumber Tycoon on the lower mainland, and in the Nanaimo area. Fred grew up at 1485 West 8th Ave, Vancouver (the house is no longer there)
