A Celebration of Life Service for Richard R. Erickson, 83, of Trimont, Minnesota was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minnesota with Pastor Dan Hormig Officiating.
Richard was called to his eternal rest on Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012 at his home in Trimont, Minnesota.
Richard Ray Erickson was born on December 2, 1928 to Roy and Laila Johnson in Willmar, Minnesota. He was adopted by John and Ruth (Swanson) Erickson of Triumph, Minnesota of February 28, 1940. He attended and later graduated with the class of 1947 from Triumph-Monterey High School. Richard served in the Korean War. He returned to Triumph and was employed for area farmers. On October 9, 1954 he was united in marriage to Eunice Anderson at the home of Alvin and Ruth Anderson. They lived and farmed in Cedar Township on Cedar Lake until 1988 when they moved to Trimont. To this union was born Rodney (Suzanne) Erickson, Beverly (John) Miller and Diane (Ron) Rust. Richard enjoyed taking his wife and children to area county parks where they hiked the trails and enjoyed picnic lunches. These day trips were squeezed in between daily chores of milking the cows and feeding the chickens. Richard was an excellent ice skater. He would clear the snow off a small part of the lake where he lived for the whole family to skate on. In his later years, Richard enjoyed taking drives in the country, especially during the planting and harvest seasons, attending Sundaes in the Park concerts each summer in Trimont, feeding the squirrels and watching the birds at his feeder.
Richard is survived by his wife, Eunice Erickson of Trimont, Minnesota; his children, Rodney(Suzanne) Erickson of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Beverly (John) Miller of St. Michael, Minnesota and Diane (Ron) Rust of Sheffield, Iowa; his grandchildren, Rako Sherman, Christine Willis, Joshua Miller, Alex Willis, Kelli Erickson; great-grandchildren, Marcus and Marshall Aydt and Corbin Hutchison; sister, Marjorie (Orval) Anderson of Delano, Minnesota; brother, Raynold Peterson of Woburn, Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Vernon Johnson and other relatives and friends.
