Dale Orlando Aagard died on the evening of Feb. 21, 2011 at his home in McAllister, Mont., following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
Dale was born on July 17, 1933 to Niels Orlando and Beatrice (Dalley) Aagard in Burlington.
In 1953, Dale met and married Ivy Marie Adams whom had migrated with her family to Burlington from England. They were later divorced. Of this union were born three children: Heather, Steve and Colleen.
Dale began a successful sheep shearing career early in his life. He began his own sheep shearing business, which took him all over Wyoming, Montana and surrounding states. Dale was highly regarded in the sheep industry and was a member of the Wyoming Wool Growers Association. He was instrumental in obtaining work visas for legalized employment of the professional shearers, primarily from Australia and New Zealand. Following the death of his father in 1985, Dale continued the family farming and ranching business in Burlington.
In 1994, Dale met and married Molly Robison (of Worland) and welcomed her three children, Shelly, Royce and Leann into his home.
Dale was a devoted and lifetime member of the LDS church in which he held many positions. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime member of the Winchester Arms Collectors Association. For several years his extensive collection of Winchester firearms was on display and a favorite of many that visited the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody. Dale loved all animals. He had a special connection with all he came in contact with.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Molly Robison Aagard of McAllister, Mont.; daughters Heather (Terry) Shryack and Colleen (Terry) Nissen of Worland; and a son, Steve (Tammy) Aagard of Laramie; as well as stepchildren Shelly (John) Crickmer of Gallatin Gateway, Mont., Royce (Addie) Philpott of Lander, and Leann (Matt) Mattis of Laramie, and Robert (Gaelee) Aagard of American Fork, Utah; and several grandchildren and geat-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, sister Faith Aagard Gormley and his beloved first wife, Ivy Marie Aagard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 26.
