Confederate colonel in the war between the states, was killed in the Battle of Jonesboro. Was buried on the battlefield, where he remained in the Georgia soil for 19 years when about 1883 a group of old friends and "war buddies" were able to locate his remains and transport them for proper burial in Tennessee. Was Captain of the Third Tennessee Infantry at one time. See also, Fed Clack.

Lawyer in Mississippi and Pulaski, Tennessee prewar. 1st lieutenant, Co. A, 3rd Tennessee Infantry, May 1861. Captain May 17, 1861. POW Fort Donelson and imprisoned for seven months. Exchanged September 1, 1862. Elected lieutenant colonel at September 26, 1861 reorganization. Colonel, June 22, 1864, to succeed the deceased Col. C.H. Walker. KIA Jonesboro. Buried on battlefield, then reburied at Maplewood Cemetery.
