Betty J. Eikenberry, 82, Lake Placid, Fla., and formerly of Rochester, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Hope Hospice in Highlands Regional Medical Center, Sebring, Fla.
She was born on April 21, 1929, in Ashland, Ky., the only child of Fred and Kathleen (Phipps) Hillman and only grandchild of Dr. Andrew J. and Verlina (Sparks) Hillman.
She was employed at Ashland Oil from 1952 until 1960. After living in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, and Peru, Ind., she moved to Lake Manitou in Rochester, where she was employed at the Defense Contract Administration Services at the AM General facility in South Bend. After leaving that position, she became sole owner of a ladies' boutique on the lake and a Redwing Shoe Store in Peru for a number of years. In 1992, she retired, married Wallace Eikenberry, of Mexico, Ind., and they moved to Lake Placid, Fla.
Survivors include her daughter, Holly and husband Darryl Ridgley, of Valdosta, Ga.; son, William and wife Julie Adams, of Terre Haute; stepsons, Braxton Eikenberry, of Akron, and Miles and wife Shenghong Eikenberry, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Drew, Max and Sam Ridgley, of Valdosta, Ga., and Lauren Adams, of Terre Haute; and step-granddaughter, Heather and husband Byron Stoner, of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Eikenberry; and her parents.
A celebration of life service will be at a later date with internment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
