John was the son of Isaac Bergey & Susannah Cassel Landis. He was the husband of Catharine Hunsicker (1772-1859) He was born in Lower Salford, Montgomery, PA and died in Franconia, Montgomery, PA. He was a Mennonite minister and was also known as Johannes Berge.
He served in the Revolutionary War with 4th Co., 5th Battalion; Phila. Co., Militia as Pvt 3 cl.
