Mary J. Brewer Burleson was born in Swartz Creek, Michigan to Abraham and Martha Morley Brewer on June 25, 1874. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Roy and Mary lived on a farm near Swartz Creek. They started farming with tractors about the early 1920s.
Just prior to Roy's death, Roy and Mary sold the farm and moved to Durand. While living in Durand, Mary would be visited by her daughter Floy. Floy's son Clayton's wife Grace would take the children for visits. Sometimes they would be served hot tea. Mary liked her tea with a dash of cream. She told stories of her father and it was her full responsibility to keep his glass full of cider during meals.
She lived alone up until the day she broke her hip. That is what took her life in the end. She was placed in a nursing home and lived for a short while. She loved her great grand children
Her funeral was held on November 6, 1964, and on a Saturday which was her g grandson John's 17th birthday. Information about her life follows:
