My aunt Jo Juan had a wry sense of humor and sharp wit, never failing to miss an opportunity to use both. I remember a visit to their horse ranch in Leonard, TX when I was a naive city boy, playing hide-and-seek with my cousins. I climbed into one of her horse trailers and received 13 yellow jacket stings on my head for my efforts. After applying a little horse salve, she said "Stevie, you know that's how your grandpa lost his hair, don't you?" Sure enough, 20 years later, I lost it all.
Jo Juan succumbed to cancer a few years later, but she never lost her sense of humor. God bless her and her family.
