I can't get dad off my mind.

I talked to the boys about him. When Evan was little he dreamt about Dad. I went into his room because he was giggling. He said my dad was telling him a joke. He remembers him even though he never met him.

11 years ago, tomorrow, we all sat around his hospital bed, touching him, holding him, telling him it was ok to let go. And he did. But damned if he didn't wait for Suz to get back from Florida so we would all be there with him.

We all knew immediately when his spirit left his body.

I felt covered in love.

And then there was a body left that was dad but wasn't at all.

He became gray and cold so quickly.

Ohmygoodness. I miss my daddy so much.

He and I fought so hard for so many years. We drove each other crazy but I never doubted his love.

If you ever got the chance to meet him, remember him today. Remember his jokes, his unapologetic way of living in this world. And send some love to all of us left behind to figure out life without him. Written by Faith Baitland 3-14-2012

Donna Verret: Faithy, your dad lived in the moment. He was about today, and maybe tomorrow, but not the next day. He knew that having fun and enjoying this second was important. More than that, he believed that tomorrow would take care of itself, because there was nothing he could do to change it. And he loved all of you more than life itself. Larry was a wonderful man, a gift, and a dreamer. We were all fortunate to know him, humored by him, and remain to this day confused by him. Gotta love that in a man! Here's to Larry!!!!
