Joseph R. Curry, 77, of Oak Park, formerly of Cicero and formely Mansfield, Ohio, died Dec 12, at his home.

Mr Curry was born March 14, 1915 in Dayton, Ohio. He was a resident of Oak Park for nine years and prior to that he resided in Cicero for 20 years. He spent many years prior to moving to Chicago in Mansfield, Ohio. When he left Mansfield around 1953 he never saw his family again. His biological son tried to find him for many years unsuccessfully. When he did, he had passed away.

He served in the Army during World War II; worked as a miner for a mining company in Montana; and prior to his retirement in 1981 worked as a dock hand for Consolidated Freightway in Chicago.

Surviors include his biological son Robert Joe Curry of Springfield, Va, four grand children, Robert Jr, Michael, Mishelle and Lisa. He had six great grandchildren, Robbie III, Stephani, Samantha, Taylor Maree, Jake and Danny Curry Teague. He was also survived by three stepdaughters, Margaret Sailliez, Edna Dougherty and Judy Vankovsky, four stepsons, Billy Riggs, Benny Riggs, Jasper Riggs and Alvin Riggs. There were 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren from his second marriage to Celian Curry who preceded him in death. Another stepson, Buddy Riggs also preceeded him in death.

Services were Dec 15, 1992, at PM Smith and sons Funeral Home in Oak Park with Rev Flavin presiding. Interment was in Mount Auburn Cemetry in Stickney, Illinois.
