Mrs. Martha Mavis Threatt Blakeney, daughter of William and Della Threatt was born on April 27, 2016 in Chesterfield County, SC. She departed this life on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, South Carolina at the age of 91.
Mavis joined Flint Ridge Baptist Church at an early age. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Hazel Blakeney. Upon their Union, she joined Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. This union was prolifically blessed with eleven children. She was preceded in death by for sons. (James Buddy, Ellerson, Lannie and Raymond Blakeney), two daughters (Delores Baker and Willie Mae Threatt). Six grandchildren.
Mavis was a loving and kind mother to her children and grandchildren. She was loved and respected in the community. She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to all she came in contact with. She loved her pastor and was definitely a role model in her church and community.
She leaves memories to be cherished by 2 sons George (Barbara) Blakeney of Pageland, S.C., and Randolph (Hollis) Blakeney of Lancaster, S.C. and 3 daughters Dallas McCain, Nettie Threatt and Maggie (Gene) Funderburk of Pageland, S.C. 27 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 35 great great grandchildren. also a son in law Carson Threatt and a daughter in law Beverly Blakeney.
Children she claimed as her own were Dr. and Mrs. Waldo Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. James Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Harris, Keith and Bobby Blount, Mr. and Mrs. James Flemming, 3 very special nephews Broadus Jr., Preston and John Curtis Threatt. Special nieces Drucilla Moore, Gail Blakeney and Hazel Snowden, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and dear friends. Special friend Ms. Annie Freeman.
