Mrs. Nancy McCurry, 89, died early Saturday morning, October 9, 1920, at the home of her son, Thomas G. McCurry, at Bio.
While in failing health, she had been critically ill only a few days, and the death of this good woman came as a shock to many of our people.
Mrs. McCurry was one of the county’s oldest citizens; she would have been 90 years of age within a few months.
Surviving her are 5 sons, Thomas G. McCurry of Bio, Mr. Charles McCurry of Montana, Mr. Alex McCurry of Atlanta, Mr. Beulah McCurry of Winder, and Mr. Tally McCurry of Detroit, Mich; 1 daughter, Mrs. Claude Jones of Columbus, Ohio, and 1 sister, Mrs. Chambers of Franklin County.
Mrs. McCurry was a faithful member of the Methodist church at Bethesda, where she had been a member for 70 years, a record which could hardly be equaled in Hart County. She joined the church at age 14, and was therefore a member of the church for over 75 years.
The funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at Bethesda at 11 o’clock by her pastor, Rev. Huckaby, followed by interment in the cemetery there.
The large concourse of friends and many beautiful floral offerings attested to the esteem in which this good woman was held.
